If you liked that you'll love the Dark Forces and Twilight series. (Now that's going back a while, and pre-dates the "Fear Street" and Point Horror collection by some years.) Twilight #19, "Dance of Death" by Lou Kassem remains one of the spookiest, most upsetting books I've ever read. Ditto Lael Littke's "Prom Dress" (one of the earliest Point books). I flirted briefly with Stephen King as a pre-teen, but his books just never seemed as good as these young adult novels, and some twenty years later, I'm still collecting them!

Deadly Detention is one of my favorite Young Adult horror mysteries. It really does have the slasher movie feel to it. The characters are well written and the final 30 pages are full of twists.

Huh, I really need to get my hand on these slasher books. Sounds like mad fun.

Oh, and just to be a nitpicker, I CAN mentiojn a slasher film that uses detention for the purpose of isolating the crew and takes place ENTIRELY in a school - the danish Sidste Time (which translates to Final Hour), a rather fun slasher, even though it's pretty freaking weird at times.
