There was a death in Saw III that reminded me of this movie. But whereas a woman was strung up naked and burnt alive in Don't Go in the House, another was strung up and literally frozen in the Saw film. Can't help but feel the filmmaker was influenced by this movie for that specific sequence.

Don't go in the House was very well made. What I remember most about it, was a friend's older brother had it as a really low quality bootleg and told us it was a snuff movie. The idea of it gave me nightmares for years even though i never watched it!
Having seen it a few years back as an adult, there's just something about fire and the idea of burning that gets to me.

I just saw this movie for the first time a few years ago and was amazed by how much I liked it. It is a bit like Maniac, although I wouldn't say quite as good, but far better than many of these movies. The filmmaker really walked that line between OK for film and totally offensive. They did a great job.

And I agree with Adam, the gritty New York stuff just adds more personality to it!

Yeah I agree, Maniac, Nightmare, The New York Ripper and The Exterminator all shared a similar East Coast setting and also had the same kind of gritty feel.

Comprehensive as always, Christian. DGITH sits well next to Maniac and others. Seems shooting in New Jersey or New York is a contributing factor in grimy, seedy slashers like this!
