thanks for the plug, but on the internet the hype was with widely known LAST HORROR FILM (previous on dvd as FANATIC from Troma) as a lost film. Alex Beck/David Winters Movie wasn’t lost, it was on Media Home video here in USA.

THE UNDERTAKER was tarred and feathered and sold 1/10th of what Troma did with LAST HORROR FILMS. Zero Hype or plug from anyone and now the dvd is more rare than some rare vhs. Selling less than what amount Anchor Bay mails out it’s screeners.

As for extras, I had several interview lined up, and only my old friend Bobby and his daughter have good things to say. Other people who knew Joe mention the demon in his life, not the good things. I think remembering Joe Spinell should be positive then R rated trash talk. It’s also didn’t help Troma interview most of the positive people on the dvd.

Markovic has 2 other version, one with Howard Stern (stock footage) in it.

Damm dvd sold 600+ copies. maybe I should do a re-release? lol

im from argentina, and i have an old vhs copy of death merchant as i understood it didnt got a vhs release in usa, i donk know code red edition( here is near to impossible to buy some dvds) but as you describe is the same edition ( in the cover youve got a girl at the gym, and the title is cold el negocio de la muerte , more or less a straight translation) if you want send me a mail and ill send you a scan of the vhs cover

I’ve only seen the Code Red release and loved it. It’s insane! It sucks you in. Would love to see the other version now.
And I AGREE- Code Red gets shit over the littlest shit. NO EXTRAS- SO WHAT.NO COMMENTARY! SO FUCKIN WHAT !! Be glad someone invested the money to release these titles! But i think Bill should stay out of the blog sites and places like that, the way actors don’t read their press. It’s hard not to let the negative comments piss you off when you put all that hard work into what you do.

Excellent review! Leaves me to wonder what could have been if Joe lived longer. I’ve only seen Maniac, but hope to change that soon. And yes, Code Red has been unfairly criticized about almost everything.
