Graduation Day is definitely one of the blander and more bloodless entries. It’s better than Girls Nite Out, even if it doesn’t feature a bear costume.
The blandest slasher film has got to be Sorority House Massacre. That one manages to hit the mythical absolute average mark. Imagine the most average episode of the most average TV show ever made and then imagine something even more average. Honestly, it’s like staring at the off-white section of a colour chart for 74 minutes.

i agree with most of the above comments. this film is no HALLOWEEN, but it isn’t final exam either. felony was the only aspect of the film that i really disliked. i really enjoyed the film a lot. i graduated from high school in 1980 and this film really captured the era.

While Graduation Day does have its detractors I really like it. It’s definitely not a movie to take seriously. It is a lot of fun although I will say that Felony is one of the worst slasher movie bands ever.

I’ve always liked Graduation Day. Even though it’s a middling slasher, it does have enough creative killings and cheesy 80’s ambience to make it worth a revisit every now and then. What really derails the movie is the infamous, interminable performance by the tone-deaf rock band Felony, which lasts a good ten minutes and feels much, much longer. The song is looped in its entirety 3 or 4 times and plays over an extended stalking sequence, completely drowning out the dialogue and killing any tension. Without a doubt this was director Freed’s biggest mistake with the movie.
