As much as I enjoy pranks gone wrong, I enjoy pranks gone right better! Killer Party has some fun Porky’s style moments.

The thing with Carrie though is the jokers in that movie are not sympathetic and get what they deserve. But that’s an interesting point about the killers being pranksters, never looked at it like that before.

I know it’s not a slasher film, but it’s pretty hard to avoid attributing the prank back firing rule to Carrie and also as an inversion of films like Porky’s, where pranks are usually an act of revenge against bullies. And Slasher killers are big pranksters, playing dead, jumping out of closets and setting up elaborate death traps.

Haha I remember Stu, spoke to him a few years back for an article on Steve Miner. There were a few other random examples I thought of that didn’t really fit in with the piece, such as Glenn from A Nightmare on Elm Street. His plays a joke on his mother with the use of home audio effects to convince her he’s staying with family. But he isn’t punished for it so didn’t really think it was relevant

LOVE THIS! I sent the article along to Stu Charno from Friday the 13th P.2. Thought he’d get a kick out of it!

When I think of pranks and slashers I always think of that late entry slasher Rush Week. It’s almost all pranks, it seems. With a little necrophillia joke that reminds me a bit of Terror Train.
