I really liked this book, found it to be an invaluable resource. My only complaint is that its out of print, and to buy it would cost like 100$+. Had to get it from my school’s library.

I really enjoyed the book for the most part. There really aren’t many books on slasher films available. I, too prefer the approach of reviewing many films in less detail rather than fewer movies in more detail. My only complaint is that Harper often reveals who the killer is in the review. The killer’s revelation is one of the great thrills of a slasher movie. Don’t spoil it for someone who hasn’t seen the movie.

I really liked this book and often take it with me when I’m traveling so I can browse through. I don’t necessarily agree with all of his reviews but it’s a great place to start for beginners.

I have read Legacy of Blood cover-to-cover, and I found it very informative and interesting. I prefer the narrow view of slashers the same as Jim Harper, and I personally sometimes have a desire to exclude Nightmare on Elm Street (included in Legacy of Blood) from slashers, due to the supernatural aspects. Though, I also usually count Visiting Hours and Silent Rage as slashers, which I think were both left out of Legacy of Blood (if memory serves). Regardless, it’s a great book that I recommend to any slasher fan.
