I like my slashers grimy and this delivers! Such a gruesome tone to it. Nightmare in a Damaged Brain is the kind of horror movie that I thought all horror movies were like when I was a kid and didn’t know better. Good stuff!

i know mik cribben,i work with him sometimes,i think this movie is pretty sleazy and all though if u want gore i guess it gives it to you, its a super depressing movie,but i still dont think it holds up to other slasher films,its a very shocking film,if your someone who doesnt watch horror a whole lot you probably will be scared the hell out of this movie

This is one of my personal favorites. I have the rare black-box clamshell with the silver “Nightmare” sticker on it that was the “alternative” to the gruseome box art Continental had first introduced to video stores back in the day. I’d searched for this for many many years until I got lucky…hee hee. I sat to watch it by myself for the first time and was BLOWN AWAY. If you’re a horror/gore/slasher fan, you NEED TO HAVE THIS IN YOUR COLLECTION. Do whatever you need to do to find it as I feel this is an important film. It causes a furor – and for good reason – and still lives in infamy all these years later. This runs up there with “Maniac” and “The Last House on Dead End Street” as one of the most f*cked up moves ever made. It will be in your head for days, despite the banality of the acting…it lives up to it’s reputation…big time.

I love Nightmare, and have benn waiting on a DVD forever! It’s one of the few films, that can out-sleaze Maniac!

I don’t think that NIGHTMARE’s “reputation” has ever included fine acting, a great story, or even that it was even a very good movie. It’s reputation has always been that it is a sleazy, gory and mean-spirited slasher film. It lives up to that rep just fine.

I really enjoy the death scenes, but the rest of the movie is far too depressing, kind of boring, unfortunately.
