Nightmare remake a hit, 3D sequel already in the works

Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood is reporting the new A Nightmare on Elm Street made over $15 million on Friday and is on track to make $35 million over the weekend.  Finke was informed this morning Warner Bros. is already working on a 3D sequel to capitalize on the revitalized franchise.  Hopefully, the 3D will include the whole film and not just the last five minutes like Freddy’s Dead.

  1. Oh, how shocking! I’m sick of 3D.

  2. I think this was the shot for a 3D flick in springwood. Fred’s already got 7 sequel’s and one remake, lets give someone elsea shot. Besides I hate remakes of sequels, so tackey.

  3. GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This makes me sick. These fucking parasites need to go and TRY to get some original ideas for once in their sorry, bloodsucking lives. I couldn’t have said it better than how it was stated above: they want to CAPITALIZE on it. Translation: GET RICH BY RAPING THE SHIT OUT OF WHAT WAS ONCE A GREAT, SCARY, ORIGINAL IDEA, and do it the QUICK AND EASY WAY. How American. I hate all these lousy, rotten production companies, writers, and producers. They can all burn in hell.

  4. The big problem is that even when we know they’re going to be crap and that the originals were good and in some cases near perfect, some of us have to check them out. I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m an anal case I have to watch the remakes simply because they exist. The Hitcher, a great film. I’ve seen the remake and sequel. Both abysmal, but they called to me. I absolutely loathed the TCM remake, it didn’t stop me watching the prequel and it was even worse. I have even seen the Birds 2. I’ve also seen sequels to films I dislike on principle! I mean, I know What You Did Last Summer! Weak insipid nonsense. I still watched the sequels. Hollywood knows we consume films rather than appreciate them. Perhaps we could have some sot of slasher support group or helpline. You see I have this friend who is thinking of watching Urban Legend 3………..

  5. I’m all for a few more films featuring Haley in the role. Should make a cool companion series to the original Elm Street cycle of films.

  6. In response to CAZZ.

Couldn’t have put it better myself, dude.BRAVO!!!!!

  7. I suspect the sequel won’t happen. PD market for a big weekend take. The Friday 13th 3D sequel was announced and shelved pretty quickly. They did make their TCM prequel, but it was basically a limited release (And truly terrible) and went more or less straight to DVD. Frankly, I think PD just use what they can take from a horror legend and skulk off with the loot before the audience wises up. It’s a Pitty if NOES3D doesn’t happen, in a way. A JEH staring set of harder NOES films could be good. I could be wrong. Warner’s might do them with or without PD.

  8. I wont be going to see anymore nightmare movies, the only nightmare to that film was the bad acting from Haley and a poorly poorly written script. I hope others will agree!

  9. I pretty much agree with Cazz. But let’s not forget most of the blame lies on the people who keep going and seeing all these remakes. All the movie makers are after one thing only, money, they don’t care if the movie is good or not. And this terrible 3-D trend is just going to make thngs worse. I am guilty of going and seeing the Nightmare remake. I actually thought it was going to be good but i was sadly disappointed. Haley did a fine job but the rest was predictable, dull and what’s the point.
