When I finally saw the uncut version (aka THE BEYOND) I had a whole new respect for it. I was also lucky enough to see HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY and THE GATES OF HELL theatrically in NY, too.

I’m of older stock and back in 82-83 when America was fixated on the slasher craze. I entered a Mom & Pop video store like no other I have ever seen before or since. The Horror section was a dimly lit, squeaking floor room with a coffin housing a skeleton. It was there, Broyles Video in Irving Tx, that I first encountered “The Gates of Hell”, “House by the Cemetery” on Horrible Vestron Video, “Zombie” Wizard Video, The still gory but cut by 5 minutes “New York Ripper” and the completely gutted version of “The Beyond” under the title “ 7 Doors of Death”.

Long story short. I have collect all his giallos and horror films and even the really good non horror Beatrice Cenci aka A Conspiracy of Torture. Lucio Fulci is an intricate part of my horror exploitation film mania.

Yes… I proclaim FULCI LIVES!
