I just watched this last night on Netflix. This was an awesome movie. The special effects were great and believable. I definitely want to own this one.

I agree with the above posters about the prostitute that was murdered.

I remember watching this movie on Showtime a few years ago. I'm not sure why I did since I already had the VHS and watched it many times. I was SHOCKED to see it was totally uncensored! Must've been fate ;)

Agreed on all of the prostitute comments. This movie is the perfect slasher, at least in it's uncut glory. A must own for even the slightest of slasher fans. I have an old Vipco import DVD release, but it pauses itself while playing and doesn't look very good anyway. I need an upgrade real soon.

I agree on why Cropsy killed the prositute - her disgust and fear was a sharp reminder of what he had lost, how futile any attempt to adjust would be. Considering the extent of his injury, he may not even have been able to have intercourse.

It's a great scene. The prostitute's reaction is an effective indication of how badly disfigured Cropsy is - without giving too much away.

Another great classic slasher. I love this movie terribly and have no shame in admitting it. Not many people realize that this film nearly put an end to the extraordinary Madman as both films were based on the same legend. Although the films are nothing alike this film still succeeds. It's nice to see a summer camp full of kids who look like they are not old enough to attend college. Then of course there are the older ones who were quite attractive as well. But Savini does steal the show in this one as well. Love it, love it, love it!

I think Alfred shares the final girl slot with Todd. Like Laurie in Halloween, Alfred spots the killer before anyone else, and like Laurie, he depens upon the intervention of a strong male. And I kinda like how the final girl is a socially akward boy. I also don't think he's that creepy/pervy. Although unacceptable, wouldn't most be be tempted to sneak a peek at a girl showering? If we are to believe Porky's... ;)

And The Burning is a great slasher - there are some good scares, brutal effectiveness, and a frightening killer. And Todd was a looker.

My guess is that after five years of being isolated he probably wanted some kind of release. But when she freaked out it angered him as that's how he also felt about himself. Frustration and anger together made him lash out at her.

Or maybe they just put it in for the hell of it...

I absolutely love this film. The bad script you mentionn, Christian, just lends to the overall appeal of the film. The acting is descent and effects top notch. The only thing about the movie that I still can't understand is why he gets that hooker? I know he probably was a litle hard up after being laid up in a hoispital for 5 years, but if revenge is on your mind, why bother killing some meaningless prostitute?
