hey there,

alex murphy here. i played billy in the film.
i am teaching at a film school (in the philippines-IAFT) with an editor, lewis schoenbrun, who is related to the executive producer of Madman, sam marion.
we had worked together for a few years before we finally tripped over this info.

..i had no idea that there was such dedicated, enduring interest in the film..swell to see that the legend indeed lives..

at the moment, i am not sure to how to contact gary sales, but if somebody wishes pass this note along..or if he see the note on this site..

all the best gary..truly, good luck with the project in the future..

Thanks to Gary Sales on behalf of the fans for posting news here.

I just picked up the Code Red DVD of Madman and it's a great package. Lots of information that many of us wanted to hear right from the horse's mouth. Mr. Sales and crew lay out the story of how the film was made and there are lots of interesting bits in the featurette and commentary. Every slasher fan needs to have this in their collection, and this is the disk to have.

I'm one of those fans who's tired of half-assed sequels and remakes, but this is one film that deserves to be revisited. I'm much more confident knowing that it will be remade with the care and affection that can only come from the people who made the original.

Keep us posted, we're ready to buy our tickets!

Nice rundown, Christian. Very comprehensive. Coupla points I could debate, but otherwise, very accurate. Thanks. Follow us on twitter.com/themadmanmarz. You're already on the facebook page so, welcome.
The 30 Year Anni Edition Madman DVD coming from Code Red this fall is gonna be awesome. Victor Bonacore and Davd Beinlich are doing a featurette: The Legend Still Lives: 30 YEARS OF MADMAN and we've interviewed a number of the original cast. Just found Max and will interview him this week. Sadly, Gaylen Ross has always treated us like a red headed step child and has refuse to partake. Too bad. Was hoping to give more to the fans. Still hunting down Richie aka Jimmy Steele and really aka Tom Candela-- so far no luck. Same with Seth Jones and Murhphy. But Harriet Bass is on tape-- looks great and is still the same sweet lady. And of course, the amazing Michael Sullivan. Track his Sex Lives of Robots animation down on the net... 10 years on it and it's still a work in progress. Hand made everything and puppet ani of the old school.

Take Care,
Gary
Executive Producer/Director of the new 3D Re-Imagining of Madman
Hey...
I know everyone's blogging neg about the remakes and the 3D, but I'm remaking Madman-- not some hack director working for the $. The script has been written by Paul "Madman Marz" Ehlers, his son Jon Sebastian Ehlers (the one born during the making of Madman, as per your story-- so the picture's literally in his DNA) , and myself. It's going to be faithful to the original yet modern and nasty.
I need to spread the word, so please feel free to pass along the news and hit me whenever you've got any questions about what's going on with it.
