I believe I read there was footage, and it got incorporated into a different film that used “Beyond Last House On The Left” as an alternate title. If I have the time, I’ll do more research…

And you gotta love that old skool artwork!

The interview seemed a bit awkward, like Hess either didn’t remember much of anything from the production, or was annoyed by the detailed questions. And it’s interesting he said “Not with me in it” to the question about footage being shot for “Beyond Last House On The Left”. I seem to remember reading several years ago that somewhere existed footage that was shot, but only enough for a scene or two. It appears he was holding back a little info. Either way, it’s cool to get to read some of his thoughts on the film.

No one plays sleazy psychos quite like David Hess. It doesn’t matter how nice he is in person you automatically think of the roles he’s played. I enjoy To All a Goodnight for the most part. It seems like Hess did the best he could given the circumstances. I didn’t know the movie had that low of a budget. It’s a credit to him that it winds up looking better than it had any right to. I wish Hess would get another chance to direct again.
