All I really remember about it is a small black and white ad in a mid 90's Fangoria, and I thought I saw info. about the actual footage in a "bootleg vhs" catalog at about he same time. I believe I read there was footage, and it got incorporated into a different film that used "Beyond Last House On The Left" as an alternate title. If I have the time, I'll do more research...

Hey RHR, that's intriguing, it'd be good to find out where that was said and perhaps we can track down the footage one day.

"To All A Goodnight" is a jumbled mess...but I love it! And you gotta love that old skool artwork!

The interview seemed a bit awkward, like Hess either didn't remember much of anything from the production, or was annoyed by the detailed questions. And it's interesting he said "Not with me in it" to the question about footage being shot for "Beyond Last House On The Left". I seem to remember reading several years ago that somewhere existed footage that was shot, but only enough for a scene or two. It appears he was holding back a little info. Either way, it's cool to get to read some of his thoughts on the film.

That was a really fun interview to read. No one plays sleazy psychos quite like David Hess. It doesn't matter how nice he is in person you automatically think of the roles he's played. I enjoy To All a Goodnight for the most part. It seems like Hess did the best he could given the circumstances. I didn't know the movie had that low of a budget. It's a credit to him that it winds up looking better than it had any right to. I wish Hess would get another chance to direct again.

I met him once and he terrified me! Not because he was mean or anything, but just because of the characters he played. I have a signed copy of To All a Goodnight. I think he was surprised when I handed it to him for the autograph.
