Zombie Nightmare Coming From Code Red DVD

zombienightmare

Code Red continue to rescue retro horror flicks from oblivion for future digital consumption. Latest on their slate is Zombie Nightmare (1986) which, despite the fantastic New World artwork is more a revenge pic. Read on for the skinny:

CODE RED recorded an audio commentary & filmed on-camera interviews with John Fasano and Frank Dietz for our upcoming release of ZOMBIE NIGHTMARE, the movie that started the Thor/Fasano craze that is sweeping horror fandom. Thor could not attend the commentary in person, but he joined us via telephone and his comments were recorded at his Canadian studio, making this a joint discussion track for Thor/Fasano/Dietz. The commentary, moderated by THE JITTERS writer Jeff McKay, will be fun and informative to all the horror fans out there who loved or hated the film. This Adam West/Tia Carrere horror film is also beloved by most Mystery Science Theatre fans as one of the craziest movies ever featured on the show! Code Red is planning a late 2009 release and are also planning to HiDef the film with the original camera negatives! Keep checking in for more details!! Same CODE RED time, same CODE RED label!!

  1. I had no idea about this movie, nor code red dvd. Thanks for the tip- I will head over there now!!

Gr8 site- keep up the sterling work…

  2. When is it coming out, in 2040?

  3. IM STILL WAITING FOR CODE RED TO RELEASE, THE MUTILATOR, NIGHTMARE, SILENT SCREAM AND THE VISITOR, ALL MOVIES THEY ANNOUNCED THEY WERE RELEASING WERE ARE THEY?

  4. They never release the stuff they say they will. Its doubtful that this will come out.

  5. great news! but yeah, they never get anything out and seem totally disorganized. (sigh)

  6. I find it really sad that people keep whining, griping, and complaining about Code Red because they havent put out a few titles yet. For Gods sake, there are THOUSANDS of 70s and 80s horror movies on DVD and VHS from other companies. Certainly these should keep people occupied for years, but NO, they sit back and whine every second possible about how they don’t have 5 or 6 titles. When they’re finally released, these same people will whine and gripe about why it took so long.

“they never get anything out” “they never release the stuff they say they will”. Why don’t you numbskulls do some research and look at their website and see there are many titles available that they have advertised.

  7. Well Marvelous, they shouldn’t make promises that they are gonna release them then! That’s why people are whining, because they say that they will be released on a certain date, then never release it(ie; Night Warning aka Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker)!

  8. if you guys want us to skip extras on these disc, we can put them out. You want NIGHTMARE, I’ll skip the director’s 80min rant. You want, NIGHT WARNING, I’ll tell Jimmy McNichols to forget it. You want MUTILATOR? I’ll use the 3/4inch tape Buddy wanted me use and forget looking for a 35mm print. I don’t need crap fed to me when I am losing money I don’t even have.

I work for a living and these titles and code red dvd do not pay the rent. I do this on my free time, which is very precious to me. Very little people buy these titles, they netflix it.

Like i said, if I can breakin even, I’ll put it out. I did my part, but most horror fans didn’t. I barely sell 1,000 copies of some of these titles.

keep on giving me the insult. Small labels are all dying every year. 2040? God! I wish I could live that long with my medical situation.

  9. HEY CODE RED I FOR ONE AM GREATFULL YOU ARE HERE AND HAVE PUT OUT WHAT YOU HAVE PUT OUT ALLREADY, IM JUST A FAN THATS EXCITED TO GET THE MOVIES YOU ANNOUNCE TO PUT OUT, THATS ALL . I READ ON WEBSITES THESE MOVIES ARE BEING RELEASED AND THEN , THEY DONT LIKE WITH THE MUTILATOR I HEARD YOU WERE PUTING THIS OUT IN 07 ITS COOL TO WAIT FOR A 35 MM PRINT MAYBEE POST ON YOUR WEBSITE WHATS GOING ON WITH THE DELAYS AND SUCH SO WE AS FANS KNOW WHATS UP, I FOR ONE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT CODE RED AND BUY YOUR TITLES SO PLEASE DONT BE MAD AT ME I LOVE YOU MAN!! YOU SEEM TO BE PUTTING OUT GREAT STUFF AND HAVE GREAT TASTE I WISH THE HORROR FANS GAVE YOU MORE SUPPORT, KEEP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING. DONT LET THE JERK-OFFS GET YOU DOWN.

  10. I JUST BOUGHT BOARDING HOUSE AND DONT GO IN THE WOODS. I OWN SWEET SIXTEEN AS WELL, CANT WAIT FOR NIGHTMARE.

  11. I have purchased all of your discs so I have the right to complain about how long they take to get released. I can’t believe that the bonus material holds up these discs, the quality of them are so low and it is not like you are shooting them on film!
You have my sympathy about your medical condition, its very sad.

  12. If it takes a while for The Mutilator to come out due to waiting on a good print as well as exclusive extras then I’m all about the wait. The Mutilator is hands down one of my favorite titles. Just keep doing what ya do, Code Red!

  13. Dear CodeRed ma

I have, like many retro genre film fanatics and collectors, the majority of your discs, and I realize this HAS to be a labor of love with your spare time. And I absolutely respect that.

But please hear this: I have been looking over websites such as this and horrordvds.com (check out the forums), and I must say, you all should concentrate on only mainly getting a very good print of this often-forgotten cult favorites and I would suggest that while probably a very, very small operation, that you hire some more.

That way, you can let some others worry about the extra/bonus materials that is normally only watched so much anyhow. I’m kinda deppressed but not surprised that is what is holding up your other wise fine enough company’s releases’ of these cult titles, as North Americans on the region-1 market I’ll admit DO complain now in the DVD area, about the lack there of or general interest over all, of the bonus features. We’ve all pretty much become spoiled, and it’s kinda sad.

Please, for now while we’re all young and some of us like me also have health problems I don’t wish to discuss, let’s just find good prints of them, and worry about extras later.Hell written liner notes on booklets is fine my me, ect …

  14. God, I can’t stand all the bitches whining over Code Red. This awesome company is doing their best and releases great DVDs of films that otherwise would not be coming out. And all others have to say is “Where is it?” It really makes me sick that some fanboys/fangirls act so childish over this manner. I personally can’t wait for the extras on Night Warning and so on…

CODE RED, take your time and ignore these idiots bashing you. They may look big, but remember, 100 people usually equals about 5. I’ve bought all of your BCI horror releases as first priority, and the MB/non-horror titles may follow if enough money spills over. You’re a grand company and don’t ever change…well, at least not for the worst. I always wanted Jimbo-…I mean, Zombie Nightmare. So terrible. So awesome. Thanks for this great news.

  15. I for one own quite a few Code Red releases (8 or so). I think if you have any interest in a movie and it’s put out by a smaller company, buying it instead of renting it on netflix might help out, even in a very small way. companies like this need all the help they can get right now.

as for people complaining, i think it’s just because Code Red has announced so many releases (whether it be them personally or just rumors) that they get announced and that’s the last we hear. people might be less prone to bitching if they knew for a fact Code Red was still working on the disc and haven’t changed the plans. just my 2 cents. i have no problem waiting as long as i know theres actually something being released and it wasn’t just a rumor or the release has been cancelled.

  16. TRUE, MY SUGGESTION IS TITLES SAID TO BE COMING OUT, MUTILATOR, NIGHTMARE, THE VISITOR, SILENT SCREAM, ECT.. JUST UPDATE THE FANS ON YOUR WEBSITE WHAT THE HOLD UPS ARE, WHAT WE ARE WAITING FOR AND WHEN THEY MAY COME OUT, INSTEAD OF ANNOUNCING IT THEN AN OBSTACLE OCCURES BUT THE FANS ARE UNINFORMED. WE LOVE YOU CODE RED, AS FAR AS PEOPLE BAGGING OTHER PEOPLE ON THIS FORUM GROW UP ITS A FORUM WE ALL HAVE OUR SAY WERE THE FANS.

  17. Come on people! Can’t we all just get along?

I had no idea Code Red was one guy working out of his basement; sometimes websites can be misleading. Looks like a bigger show. Now we know it is one man with poor health and a dog, running on the smell of a bloody rag, I am happy to go back and watch some of my old Anchor Bay and Blue Underground stuff while I wait patiently for Code Red. God knows I have enough of it!!

It’s about time I dug out ‘Dead and Buried’, ‘The Prowler’, and ‘Fight For Your Life’ again!!

    Keep the faith, pilgrims!!

  18. The MST3K episode featuring this movie (I can’t call it a “film,” honestly – lol) is one of my all-time favorites. They riff the pants off this bad boy, which is truly a movie so bad, it’s actually sort of good.

  19. Not to spam but I had to go with the fans on this one. You can’t do a piss poor job then whine about people complaining about it!

  20. bonus footage sucks, just put out the movie please

  21. Don’t listen to Splat. Some of us appreciate the footage.

  22. I second that – bonus footage is well worth it most of the time. Zombie Nightmare rules and I’m glad its getting a dvd release

I apologize for my name calling but I wish people would understand how much work it takes to put out DVDs. At the last minute schedules change and an actor can’t make it for an interview and it needs to be done later, or the lab screws up the transfer….all these things are out of the dvd companys hands and people just don’t get it.

Its a reflection of the times we live in. We want something now without regard or thinking how much effort it takes to make..it really makes me sad

  23. Keep up the good work Code Red!

    -RHR

  24. as far as the mutilator a 3/4 inch is what they used for vhs release masters why not dvd put it out, also theres a guy on youtube kandjhorror is his handle he knows buddy cooper and has great bonus materials you can probably use.

  25. I’ve expressed my appreciation for Code Red countless times, but I’ve said thise before: Right now, I’m much more interested in news about their upcoming releases of Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker, Silent Scream, The Mutilator, and Nightmares. I realize, though, that with the economic situation right now, a conservative approach to one’s release schedule is wise.

Zombie Nightmare doesn’t look particularly enjoyable. Many 70′s and 80′s horror movies with an average of 3 to 5 on IMDB are often the ones that have a cult fanbase but little mainstream appeal. However, when a movie has an average of less than 2, then it seems to me that pretty much nobody likes it.

  26. Code red, keep it up. If it weren’t for you we wouldn’t have the numerous horror films I have in my collection. For all the idiots that have no life, no resources or understanding how to RUN a business and have NO CLUE what the hell they are talking about, piss off. Get off your cell phone, out of the mall and realize that miracles don’t always come your way. If Code Red can release something I believe them, if not, that’s life. Quit your bitching before I snatch your flip flops off your feet and beat you to death with them.

With much love, Someone who CARES. A fan. Thank you Code Red.

  27. Richard, I totally agree with you. The wait is often worthwhile and I really look forward to their releases. They are an interesting change of pace from the mainstream. I wish Code Red the best of luck, and will buy every release that excites me.

  28. Any news on the release of nightmares in a damaged brain or butcher baker nightmare maker ? I cant wait to finally see them on DVD !!

  29. Not heard anything about Nightmare in a Damaged Brain for some time now. My fingers are crossed because it’s certainly a guilty pleasure. And Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker is an awesome name for a film!

  30. Night Warning (Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker) is the one I have to get because I suggested them to put it out. It’d be terrible to not support them after asking for it to come out. Haha.

  31. and almost a year later… no Nightmare. No Night Warning.
I vote screw the extra’s on Nightmare, just give the States a decent dvd release. Im sure it will sell thousands.

  32. Another year later and no Night Warning. Plus an untranslated interview on Nightmare, so I guess that excuse we got for 4 years was a bunch of b.s. What professional company acts like this?
