80′s Slashers Screening, New Slasher Doco Coming
In anticipation of their future DVD special editions from Arrow, Slaughter High and The Funhouse will receive a back-to-back theatrical screening in Scotland, Fangoria‘s Michael Gingold reports.
Also of note, a new slasher documentary is on the way – hopefully it’ll be better than Going To Pieces, a doco everyone loves – but for the life of me, I thought was by-the-numbers and cynical.
Here’s the skinny so far:
Tobe Hooper’s THE FUNHOUSE and the three-directored SLAUGHTER HIGH will be shown at the Glasgow Film Theatre this Sunday, June 5 starting at 5:15 p.m. Veteran scream queen and SLAUGHTER star Caroline Munro will take part in a Q&A and autograph event after the show, moderated by journalist Calum Waddell, who further informs Fango that his High Rising Productions will premiere the trailer for its upcoming documentary SLICE AND DICE: THE SLASHER FILM FOREVER at the event (more on that one soon!); go here for tickets and more details. High Rising created special features for Arrow Video’s upcoming Blu-ray of THE FUNHOUSE and DVD of SLAUGHTER HIGH.
The UK won’t be left out, as London will also have a screening of Slaughter High with Munro in attendance as well as co writer/director Mark Ezra, a little earlier on Friday, June 3. Here’s the advert for that. Tickets here.

Going to Pieces was a bore. The Starz documentaries seem more aimed at the uninitiated than the genre junkies.
Going to Pieces wasn’t great, but it was more for casual slasher fans. It’s too short. What I really want is an exhaustive 10 part TV series, but I would settle for something as funny and entertaining as Not Quite Hollywood that ignored the obvious franchise slashers. NQH is interesting because the subject is outside of Hollywood libel action culture and the interviewees are much wittier than most film makers.
