  1. Awesome! But will we ever get BBNM?

  2. I thought Code Red was closing its doors in July of this year. And what the hell is going on with the release of BUTCHER, BAKER, NIGHTMARE MAKER?? It’s been like 3 or 4 years since they announced they were releasing it.

  3. NIGHTMARE sold a tiny 2,700. how many BBNM will sell? 800 copies???

  4. I think people are too hard on Code Red. I completely admire the company.

  5. Weirdly, I found Retribution on VHS a week ago. It’s good and will make a fine DVD release.
Re Code Red. They do a great job with these films and I support them. I understand the reasoning behind the lack of a BBNM release, but I’m a big fan of the movie and think it is one that would sell on the quality of the film. It’s easily one of the best, if not the best, of the missing slashers and it’s one of the original video nasties. In Britain BBNM very highly regarded cult movie.

  6. I, too, admire Code Red and support them. I’m stoked on some of their upcoming releases and will be getting them, but BBNM is one of my favorite slashers of all time. I’m surprised NIGHTMARE didn’t do better after all of the people complaining about it not being on DVD, but I picked that up too and I love it. Code Red did a damn fine job, on NIGHTMARE but I NEED BBNM. Didn’t you already do an interview with Jimmy McNichol?

  7. Yeah, BBNM is one of the best in terms of slashers not yet on DVD. Add that with the fact that Code Red apparently has all the extras and the transfer finished, and that it would easily sell better than Mardi Gras Massacre and Retribution (which I THANK you for acquiring by the way; love you guys) I’d say that BBNM is a shoe-in release. I mean, it’s a semi-classic based on performance and subject matter alone. I don’t really see the harm in releasing it versus other films. It’s a classy film that I’m sure would benefit from a legit, classy Code Red release.

  8. It’s a shame that many Code Red releases aren’t selling better. They’ve delivered so many classics to DVD and this was probably their finest year. In 2011 horror fans finally received long-awaited releases of Nightmare, Rituals, and Night of the Demon(in addition to a wild array of genre films) via Code Red. The company has been scraping by for years now, and in that span of time they’ve built up a considerable catalog of titles that seem to only fetch interest once they’ve gone out of print (which can happen quickly). Here’s hoping that Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker is the company’s breakthrough release of next year (what Nightmare should have been), along with Retribution, Ghostkeeper, Family Honor and other much-anticipated films.

  9. I think the problem with Nightmare is that there were a lot of very cheap copies of the film. The code red version is easily the best, but, in Britain at least, it’s a film that crops up in various forms at pound shops.

  10. Glad to see I’m not the only one frustrated with the wsy Code Red has been dragging their feet on the BBNM disc. According to their site/blog, the extras have indeed been completed for a while (they even posted a photo of Jimmy McNichol from his on-camera interview), yet news and information on the release has been absent for quite some time. Meanwhile, they’ve continued to put out several films and continued to add to their list of upcoming titles while BBNM has been ignored. I don’t get it.

Sidebar: I’m surprised NIGHTMARE didn’t sell better. That movie definitely has a pretty big cult following and the set was another long-awaited release. I have it and think they did a fantastic job on it.

  11. I’m down to start a BBNM petition to Code Red if you guys are! : )

  12. I’m down, Rot!

  13. I really dunno how well this will do, but I had time to kill so here’s the petition to get BBNM released by CODE RED!

SIGN AND SUPPORT! This baby needs to come out!

  14. I just wish that they’d tell us more info on BBNM. I’m not sure if Code Red realizes what a good, even and startling film they have their hands on with Night Warning. I remember when I asked them to release it over 4 years ago, and they were not entirely into it, stating things along the lines of ‘it’s not a real slasher because the body count isn’t too high’ and such. But it’s truly a well performed and atmospheric look at a psycho’s obsession, and blatant homophobia. One of my top 25 slasher flicks, that’s for sure.

  15. I posted a link to the petition for Code Red to release BBNM, but it’s waiting approval from a moderator. If it’s posted please sign it. I think BBNM is better than most of the titles their releasing. Like their releasing POPCORN when another company is about to, that release could be BBNM. Just sayin’.

  16. There are 2 scheduled POPCORN releases?? I love that one!

  17. Yep! One’s being released in 2012 that will have a retrospective documentary and so many other goodies. Then I believe that Code Red is releasing one.

  18. I think the 2012 retrospective might be a dud release. I’ve heard through the grapevine that those people don’t actually have the rights to distribute it. :(

  19. A retrospective would be awesome! Hope it comes to fruition. I’m really excited to hear the commentary track on Code Red’s release. I’ve always been a huge fan of that movie. It’s so much fun to watch.

  20. Also has the best tagline in slasher history: BUY A BAG, GO HOME IN A BOX!

  21. Hey all, new to the board. So i was just on ebay and theres someone selling copies of Retribution. Can anyone tell me if its a bootleg or the code red version, or some other version? And if its worth picking up? Thanks!!
