Trailer To Slice & Dice: The Slasher Film Forever
Okay, this is more like it! Over the weekend, Fangoria premiered the trailer for upcoming documentary Slice and Dice: The Slasher Film Forever.
In speaking with the doco’s co-director Calum Waddell, its angle is revealed:
“So this is a totally different approach to the subject matter, with interviewees who are a little cultier than usual and generally not as ubiquitous on genre docus,” he continues. “Hence we have J.S. Cardone, who directed one of my fave slasher films THE SLAYER and later wrote and produced the STEPFATHER and PROM NIGHT remakes; Corey Feldman, who killed Jason in FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE FINAL CHAPTER; Scott Spiegel of HOSTEL and INTRUDER fame; legendary Brit director Norman J. Warren; FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE NEW BLOOD’s John Carl Buechler; and such recent genre kingpins as Patrick Lussier, who edited the SCREAM movies and directed MY BLOODY VALENTINE and DRIVE ANGRY, Adam Green of HATCHET, Dave Parker of THE HILLS RUN RED and Chris Smith of TRIANGLE and SEVERANCE.”

could be good…. I’m not sure it can top Going to Pieces: the rise and fall of the slasher flick (1978-1984). GTP was a frickin’ rad documentary. Honestly, I wish they would make more doc’s on the slasher films. Thirty years from now I would not be surprised if there is a college course over the slasher film as part of a film degree. You never know

The movie with the woman getting her throat slit is Blood Feast 2: All U Can Eat. It’s a really gory and goofy slasher that I would recommend watching.

I wish they’d make a doc that would skip the whole influence of Halloween, Psycho, Friday the 13th, etc. (we already know all about that) and just showcase some of the really unknown slashers, like Body Count, The Mutilator, Evil Laugh, etc. Those films really should get the respect and attention they deserve.
